For a number of years I ran the Karoo Cooks tours for SA Country Life Magazine. A highlight of these tours was staying at the Tuishuise in Cradock in the Eastern Cape. These charming hotel rooms are attached to the Victoria Manor Hotel. They were developed by the doyen of Tourism in the Eastern Cape, Sandra Antrobus. Today this slick operation is run by her enthusiastic, and equally innovative daughter, Lisa Ker. I spoke to Lisa about how it will be to stay at the Tuishuise after Covid 19 as these cottages are ideal for social distancing. If you book, do mention Margi-Explores and you will receive a bottle of Hill & Dale Wine to enjoy in the comfort of your own charming cottage. Don’t miss a visit to the Mountain Zebra National Park. Last Christmas I stayed for 5 days and had one of the best lion sightings I have ever seen, a pride of 13 in the early morning light, blocking the road ahead of us.
