My Godson, Cameron and his lovely girlfriend, Melissa have been volunteering at an NGO, Usiko for some time. I thought I’d go and find out what it was all about. Talking to Arnold Okkers the CEO, brought me up to speed on their various activities. I am hugely impressed by the work that they have been doing for many years, with youth at risk in many communities but especially Jamestown, Cloetesville and Steenberg.
During the Covid 19 disaster their role changed to that of a feeding scheme. They have been providing daily cooked food to the children in their usual communities and also food parcels to desperate families in the Northern Cape.
I have huge respect and gratitude for the work that is done by these kind of organisations.
